Cat Care Clinic: About Us in Ormond Beach, FL

Cat Care Clinic is proud to be the first and only cat-exclusive hospital in Ormond Beach, FL, a journey that began more than 20 years ago. The practice was founded in 2000 by Dr. Leslie Nixon and her husband, John Nixon, in a small shopping strip on Granada Boulevard, just around the corner from our current location on Yonge Street. Since then, we have been dedicated to providing compassionate, specialized veterinary care exclusively to cats.

We opened our doors with just three employees, but over the years, our practice grew. We soon realized it was time to make a move, so in 2005 we relocated to a brand new, 4,000 square foot purpose-built facility. Our new facility allowed us to accommodate more patients, staff, and equipment. Cat Care Clinic is now staffed with 17 team members (four veterinarians, nine veterinary technical staff, three receptionists, and a practice manager). We also expanded our services to include ultrasound, echocardiography, endoscopy, laparoscopy, laser surgery, therapy laser, acupuncture, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, and in-house laboratory (for faster test results).

In 2015 the practice was purchased by Dr. Amber Carter and her husband, Kenny Carter. Dr. Carter was an associate veterinarian with Cat Care Clinic from 2007 to 2010, returning in 2014. In 2018 Dr. Carter became board-certified in Feline Practice by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP), carrying on a tradition that Dr. Nixon began. She and Dr. Nixon are currently the only two veterinarians in the state of Florida who is ABVP board-certified in Feline Practice.

Cat Care Clinic is also proud be acknowledged as a Gold Level Cat Friendly Practice (CFP) by the AAFP. This designates that our practice has gone above and beyond to provide our feline patients the best, most stress-free care possible. Our entire team is dedicated to being the local leader in feline medicine.
