Amber Carter DVM, DABVP (Feline Practice)
Owner
Dr. Amber Carter is a proud advocate for feline-focused care, blending expertise and compassion to elevate the health of cats. A graduate of Duke University and the University of Central Florida, she earned her veterinary degree from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Her passion for feline medicine was clear from the start, leading her to join Cat Care Clinic as an associate veterinarian from 2007-2010.
In 2014, Dr. Carter returned to Ormond Beach to purchase Cat Care Clinic, bringing her vision for advanced, cat-exclusive care to life. In 2018, she earned the prestigious title of being board-certified in Feline Practice from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, joining Dr. Leslie Nixon as one of only two veterinarians in Florida with this certification.
When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Carter spends time writing about feline health on her blog, CatVetLife. With her husband Kenny (our Practice Manager), Dr. Carter homeschools her two children. She is also a cancer survivor and has a special place in her heart for cats with cancer. She has two black cats (Sioux and Biscuit), an orange cat (Bacon), and a brown dog named Pete the Cat. She’s also a college football fan, a BBQ lover (Memphis and Eastern NC styles are her favorite), and a bluegrass enthusiast.
