Amber Carter, DVM, DABVP (Feline Practice)

Dr. Carter earned degrees from both Duke University and the University of Central Florida prior to graduating from the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. From the beginning of veterinary school, Dr. Carter knew she wanted to focus on cats! She was an Associate Veterinarian with Cat Care Clinic from 2007-2010 and loved working in a cat-only hospital. Life took her back home to NC but she returned to Ormond Beach in 2014 to purchase Cat Care Clinic. In 2018, Dr. Carter earned the credentials of “Board Certified Feline Specialist” as a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. She is currently the only practicing Feline Specialist in the state of Florida. Dr. Carter lives with her husband Kenny (who is the Practice Manager), her two young children Cotton and August, their three black cats Cracker, Sioux, and Biscuit, and a brown dog named Pete the Cat. She loves college football, seeking out good BBQ (Memphis or Eastern NC style), listening to bluegrass and living near the beach.

Robin Jaeger, DVM, DABVP (Canine/Feline)

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Robin Jaeger graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine with high honors in 2001. She then completed an intensive 13-month rotating internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, MA. Before joining Cat Care Clinic, she worked at an Emergency and Specialty hospital in NY, for many years as the ICU director. She earned the title Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) in Canine & Feline Practice in 2008, one of only 20 veterinarians who hold this title in Florida. Dr. Jaeger has a special interest in pain management, geriatric medicine, critical care and teaching. She has also co-authored a paper on heart arrhythmias in cats. Additionally, she is certified in veterinary acupuncture and veterinary medical manipulation (similar to chiropractics in humans!). In her free time, she enjoys the wonders of being outside with nature – hiking, biking or kayaking.

Kelsey Blackburn, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Blackburn received her DVM degree from the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. She also graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University with honors in psychology and a double minor in biology and chemistry.  After veterinary school graduation, she completed a rigorous year-long rotating internship in surgery and internal medicine at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Charlotte, NC.  Her special interests include ophthalmology and internal medicine.  In her free time, she enjoys staying active, going to the beach, and cooking.  She lives at home with 2 cats: April (a calico tabby) and Oliver (an orange tabby), as well as an array of exotic animals including a hedgehog, a rescued box turtle, and a corn snake.

Azais Curtean, DVM

Associate Veterinarian and ABVP Resident in Feline Practice

Dr. Curtean received her DVM degree from St. Matthew’s University in Grand Cayman Island. Prior to that she graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology, then received a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Pittsburgh. After veterinary school she completed an intensive internship at Miami Veterinary Specialists in 2017-2018 and stayed on as a small animal emergency clinician while also working as a surgeon at the Humane Society of Greater Miami’s high volume spay/neuter clinic. Her special interests include feline soft tissue surgery, diagnostic imaging and endoscopy. Dr. Curtean is originally from Cuba and enjoys good Caribbean food and dancing to salsa music and reggaeton. She is an avid traveler and has visited over 40 countries around the world. In her spare time she enjoys reading, drawing and online gaming.

Emily wears many hats in the practice, acting as a technician, inventory manager and even filling in at the front desk from time to time. She loves getting to see all the breeds of cats and how unique they are. Of course, working with kittens is her favorite part of the job. She lives with her husband Kris, her children Hunter and Eva, their dog Moto and four cats: Wobbles (a special needs kitty who has Cerebellar Hypoplasia), Rogue, Wesley and Gizmo. She enjoys camping and riding her 4-wheeler.

She enjoys spending time with family, swimming and exploring the great outdoors.

Caroline is one of our veterinary assistants. She was born and raised in Sweden until she was 10-years-old. From the age of 13 on her family ran an equestrian farm. Following her passion for animals, she worked for Pet Paradise for 9 years, eventually being promoted to Resort Manager. She also has experience working with Halifax Humane Society. She is excited to now work in a veterinary practice! She lives with her fiancé Bradley, their son Isaac, their three dogs (Chief, Skeeter and Diesel), and two guinea pigs (Clutch and Tesla).

Kirsten is one of our technician assistants. She was born & raised in the Midwest, but just recently moved to Florida to escape the cold. She spent 14 years working in the dental field, yet always knew she wanted to work with animals & decided to follow her heart. The first few years of her animal career were at a non-profit animal sanctuary, where she cared for 35 cats, 20 dogs, & a horse. The past couple years, she worked as a technician assistant at a small & large animal veterinary clinic, working with all kinds of animals from cats to cows! Felines, however, have always been her passion. She lives with her husband Josh, & their 7 kitties (Mia, Teacup, Zoe, Sammy, Odin, Quill, & Gamora). In her free time, she loves to kayak, spend time at the beach, and work on all kinds of home improvement projects.

Kenny is our “behind the scenes” Practice Manager who keeps Cat Care Clinic running smoothly! He and Dr. Carter purchased the practice in 2015, leaving his corporate life behind. He will tell you, though, that his most important (and favorite) job is being a father to their son Cotton and daughter August! Kenny is a graduate of N.C. State University (BS in Business Administration), and is a huge fan of Wolfpack athletics, motorcycle racing, real food, BBQ and IPAs. He enjoys both kinds of music: Country and Western.
